Body vs. Arms

December 7th, 2007 at 10:03pm Under Tips and Tricks

Almost every single golfer would love to increase the power of their swing. Here is one very quick tip on what to make sure to do in order to get the most power out of your swing. Use your body! A lot of people will try to smack the ball using their arms for their power. But truly, you get so much more power when you use your body. That is probably the key thing to remember while your swinging.

Worst Experiences on a Golf Course

December 6th, 2007 at 06:01pm Under Miscellaneous

Sometimes, while you are playing a round of golf, you can run into some pretty embarrassing, funny events. Here are four of my personal worst experiences and friends worst experiences on a golf course.

4. I was driving in the golf cart, and while I was speeding around the corner going to the tees, I smashed my cart right into a bench that was sitting beside the tee box. I couldn’t be any more embarrassed. And some people on the hole next to mine looked at me like I was the biggest idiot they had ever seen.

3. While going out with one of my collegues to play a round of golf, my temper got a little out of control . She is a non-stop talker. And she talks about the stupidest things half the time. And it just so happens, while I am in the middle of my backswings, she starts talking right then, when she could’ve just waited a second or two for me to finish my swing. After three holes of playing with my colegue, I was so pist at her that I decided when I took my next swing, I was going to fake an injury just to get off the course with the woman. I was pretty embarrassed but it was worth it.

2. While playing at a golf course up in Jamaica, I hit quite a few balls into the forest. I initial all of my balls just to make sure they don’t get mixed up with anyone elses that I am playing with. So on the eighth hole, this guy came out of the forest trying to sell me some balls he found. When I looked at them, I noticed they had my initials on them. The guy was trying to sell my balls back to me. I just thought this was really funny. :)

1. While my friend was driving in his golf cart, his wife was walking in front of the cart. Accidently, he accelerated right into her and bumped her to the ground. Then forgetting to put the cart in reverse, he ran right over her. This was probably the funniest moments of all time on a golf course.

Please feel free to comment on any activities that you may have had on a golf course that were either funny or embarrassing. I hope you got a laugh out of mine.

It’s All in the Mind

December 5th, 2007 at 06:42am Under Tips and Tricks

Some people will tell you that a big part of golf is keeping a good attitude. And that couldn’t be any more true. Golf can be a mind game. If you hit a bad shot, you can’t be putting yourself down for the rest of the round. It will effect how you play in a very poor way. You need to be thinking, “every shot is a new shot”. I promise you, if you do this, you have much better chances of hitting your next few shots much better then you would if you put yourself down. So just remember, it’s all in the mind.

Chipping in Heavy Winds

December 4th, 2007 at 12:11am Under Short Game

When you go out on a very windy day to play a round of golf, it can get very hard to chip. The biggest mistake someone could probably make would be to just ignore the heavy winds while chipping and aim the ball directly at the hole. Instead of ignoring the winds, you should be thinking of the winds as a break on the green. Lets say you feel a heavy wind from right to left while you’re chipping. You would want to aim to the right of the green, and the wind should push the ball left towards the hole as long as you hit it correctly. The same works vice versa.

Golf Lessons: Are They Worth It?

December 3rd, 2007 at 02:34am Under Miscellaneous+ Tips and Tricks

Are you having a hard time deciding whether to begin or continue taking golf lessons? Well, you need to decide if it is worth the money because they are extremely expensive these days. To decide whether it is worth it or not, ask yourself how many times you practice in between lessons. If you were to begin or continue lessons about once a week, you should be practicing about 3-4 times in between lessons. If you have lessons twice a week, you should be practicing about 2-3 times in between lessons. Once you begin taking 3 golf lessons a week, it really isn’t worth it from my prospective just because you don’t get enough time to practice what you are learning. I hope this was helpful!

Discount Golf

December 2nd, 2007 at 02:02am Under Before Playing and After Playing+ Tips and Tricks

When you go to play a round of golf, it can become quite costly. What most golf courses do not tell you, is that at certain times of the day, you can get discount golf rates. Usually, this is referred to “Twilight Hour” or “Happy Hour”. If you want to find out if the golf course your going to has these special rates, some of the time, you can look it up online, but it would be best just to call the golf course and ask if they have special pricing during special hours. Some golf courses may or may not offer discounted golf rates at certain times, but a lot will. :)

Up-Hill Hitting

December 1st, 2007 at 12:44am Under Fairway Shots+ Short Game

Has your ball ever landed on an up-hill slope? Well, that happens to me all of the time. But when it does happen, I will tell you one thing not to do. Don’t swing regularly like you would at any other shot. That is just asking for trouble. First of all, your ball will not go directly to where you were aiming. What you want to do instead is sweep the ball. What I mean by sweeping the ball is on you back swing, don’t take your club higher than your knee. And then for your through-swing, just follow it up the slope. This will give you the best possible swing for an up-hill hit.
