Winter Season Golf

December 13th, 2007 at 05:17am Under Miscellaneous+ Tips and Tricks

Most of us are getting ready for a long and cold winter. During the winter, you would obviously not go to a golf course and play a few holes. First off, no golf courses would be open in the winter in cold places, and second off, if they were open you would freeze your behind off. But what you can do during the winter is some body and strength training.

At a workout gym, one thing you can do to get ready for the upcoming golf season is work on your biceps and triceps strength. Everyone could add a little bit more power to their swing. All you need to do is lift a few weights. Whatever you feel works your biceps and triceps best is the exercise you should be doing. Another little thing you could do at a work out gym is develope a stronger core. A stronger core can help you keep better posture during your swing. To do that, do a few sit-ups and some crunches. If you really want to see results, you must work your core every single day. A third thing you could do basically anywhere indoors is practice your rotation without your club. Do your rotation over and over and over, and I guarantee that you will see results.

Those are the key things you will want to do during the winter when it is cold to get prepared for the upcoming golf season. I wish you luck. Please comment to tell everyone how my exercises worked for you.

Low Budget Golf Christmas Ideas

December 9th, 2007 at 12:21am Under Miscellaneous

Christmas is coming around the corner, and I am sure that we are all very excited for it. On Christmas, we will always need to give others presents. Now, some golf-related presents can get extremely costly. But I will give you some low budget Christmas ideas for anyone who likes golf.

1. Golf Balls…These make great presents, for men, women, teenagers, or kids. You can also stay on a very low budget when you get friends and family golf balls. I would highly suggest this item for Christmas. Every golfer needs them! (Check out http://www.golfers-planet.com/?page_id=24)

2. Golf Clubs…These will make anyone happy. To stay on a lower end budget, I would consider getting the Ram G-Force Men’s Set. I have heard a few reviews about them. Most people who own them will tell you they are great for beginner golfers, and possibly some intermediate golfers. I believe they have been priced at GolfSmith for $100 on sale. But because I don’t personally own them, I can’t really tell you much more. If you’re not interested in those, I am sure there are plenty of other low-budget clubs.

3. Golf Bags…Who wouldn’t want a new golf bag? You can get a good one for anywhere between $50 to $100 so you still are staying in a low budget zone.

4. Golf Clothes…About a week before Christmas, I would suggest going out to Macy’s, Marshall Fields, or any alike stores and checking out their Men’s Golf Department. They offer such great deals on all the golf clothes you could need (pants, shorts, collared shirts, etc.). And all of these clothes make such great presents.

Well those are probably the best golf related Christmas presents I have thought of, received, or given. I wish you the best on your Christmas shopping.

Worst Experiences on a Golf Course

December 6th, 2007 at 06:01pm Under Miscellaneous

Sometimes, while you are playing a round of golf, you can run into some pretty embarrassing, funny events. Here are four of my personal worst experiences and friends worst experiences on a golf course.

4. I was driving in the golf cart, and while I was speeding around the corner going to the tees, I smashed my cart right into a bench that was sitting beside the tee box. I couldn’t be any more embarrassed. And some people on the hole next to mine looked at me like I was the biggest idiot they had ever seen.

3. While going out with one of my collegues to play a round of golf, my temper got a little out of control . She is a non-stop talker. And she talks about the stupidest things half the time. And it just so happens, while I am in the middle of my backswings, she starts talking right then, when she could’ve just waited a second or two for me to finish my swing. After three holes of playing with my colegue, I was so pist at her that I decided when I took my next swing, I was going to fake an injury just to get off the course with the woman. I was pretty embarrassed but it was worth it.

2. While playing at a golf course up in Jamaica, I hit quite a few balls into the forest. I initial all of my balls just to make sure they don’t get mixed up with anyone elses that I am playing with. So on the eighth hole, this guy came out of the forest trying to sell me some balls he found. When I looked at them, I noticed they had my initials on them. The guy was trying to sell my balls back to me. I just thought this was really funny. :)

1. While my friend was driving in his golf cart, his wife was walking in front of the cart. Accidently, he accelerated right into her and bumped her to the ground. Then forgetting to put the cart in reverse, he ran right over her. This was probably the funniest moments of all time on a golf course.

Please feel free to comment on any activities that you may have had on a golf course that were either funny or embarrassing. I hope you got a laugh out of mine.

Golf Lessons: Are They Worth It?

December 3rd, 2007 at 02:34am Under Miscellaneous+ Tips and Tricks

Are you having a hard time deciding whether to begin or continue taking golf lessons? Well, you need to decide if it is worth the money because they are extremely expensive these days. To decide whether it is worth it or not, ask yourself how many times you practice in between lessons. If you were to begin or continue lessons about once a week, you should be practicing about 3-4 times in between lessons. If you have lessons twice a week, you should be practicing about 2-3 times in between lessons. Once you begin taking 3 golf lessons a week, it really isn’t worth it from my prospective just because you don’t get enough time to practice what you are learning. I hope this was helpful!

Cleaning Golf Balls

November 21st, 2007 at 12:22am Under Miscellaneous+ Tips and Tricks

After playing a round of golf, your golf ball(s) can get pretty dirty. But it is really important that you keep them clean because the mud and grass stains on you ball(s) can affect the way you play. Cleaning them is a pretty simple. All you have to do is fill your kitchen sink with some warm soapy water. Then, put your dirty golf ball(s) in the sink, and let them sit for about an hour. This will allow all of the dirt and grass stains to completely disappear.

Golf Course Etiquette

November 20th, 2007 at 02:54am Under Miscellaneous+ Tips and Tricks

When you go out to play a round of golf with some of your colleagues or friends, you must know proper golf etiquette. There are a few basic etiquette rules in golf. First off, always let the person with the shortest ball (the ball least close to the hole) hit his or her ball before anyone hits his or hers. Next, make sure you are completely silent while others are both taking their practice swings and hitting the ball. Another thing that you need to know is to never step into anybody else’s putting line. So don’t step anywhere inbetween the path from the ball to the hole. The last basic etiquette rule that you need to follow is don’t cheat. It can be quite obvious when you lie about your score and if the person who you’re playing with figures out, he or she will not want to play with you in the future. Just follow these basic rules on the golf course and you should be fine.
